Getting Hyped for Regionals!!

This weekend is the long awaited for regional climbing competition at Canyons Climbing Gym! For most of the group this is where things start to get serious and it really feels like rope season. Everyone has been super motivated and excited to get on some sweet routes set by Matt Dendy, our coach!!, Chris LoCrasto and other awesome setters. Before they could set, the gym had to be stripped. This job fell to Addison and Canon Huse, from the Dirty South, Jacob Thonen, Cameron Epley, and Dominic LaBarge. Here is a picture of the blank canvas.
After 7 hours of stripping into the dark hours of the morning we finished the gym.
In other news Jon Proctor is being added to the ranks of the Dirty South, so look out for him in upcoming posts!

How it began

Ever since we can remember, our friend Dalan Faulkner has been telling us that instead of being "Team Southern Rock" we should be called "The Dirty South Climbers". Then at ABS 13 Youth National Championships we made his idea come to life with the creation of the first Dirty South Climbers tanks. It started as a core group of six climbers including Dalan Faulkner, Elizabeth Tamez, Delaney MIller, Canon Huse, Shane Puccio, and Addison Kim. We came together in order to have a small tightnit group to train with and motivate each other. Our goals as the Dirty South are to primarily have fun, get stronger and make the climbing community a better place. Members of the Dirty South have competed many times at national and world class climbing competitions in both youth and adult categories. This month we will be inviting one new members to the Dirty South group, Tiffany Murphy. Also, the Dirty South will be competeing in the Heartland regional climbing comp. Photos and video footage soon to come!!
